But in this case he gives us the book number. And although the titles are different, the book does include interior illustrations by Paul Rader.

The books are switched inside, so plates 1-4 are for DUTCH TREAT. Rader would re-do plate 6 for the cover of Midwood 33-683, TEST OF LOVE.

As Rader has noted, these are line drawings not plates. It’s hard to believe Midwood paid him more for these crudely reproduced sketches than they did for any of his cover paintings.

This is an interesting variation in the usual notebook entries, although this kind of repainting often happened in the paperback publishing world. We are not sure which cover Rader repainted, and there are several Midwoods around this time of a couple with a red background. But this guess seems the best guess, for this woman looks like a Rader model to me. This is Midwood 33-700, WHY PLAY GAMES? The other artist is probably George Alvara.
